I became interested in photography way back in high school. I learned to shoot on a Pentax K1000 just like everyone else. That particular piece of equipment was the "student camera" of choice because it was built like a tank. It was completely manual, forcing its user to really think about every single shot. I learned to use real darkroom equipment, with real chemicals and real enlargers. I learned that taking the photo was a very minimal part of the process... that is, the shutter click and film exposure was just the start of a photograph. Much more time an effort was involved in making that negative into a real print that could be viewed without a loupe.
Now I shoot completely digital, but still try to spend time afterwards with Photoshop to perfect the image. The only difference is that the waste produced is minimal with digital. No more buying film, no more paying for color prints that can't be adjusted at all. The process has been streamlined to maximize efficiency.
Here are some photos I've taken over the years. All the good ones I've shot with a Canon Digital Rebel. I try my best to only shoot Canons.
